Lincoln Cathedral
The City of Lincoln
The Romans named the city Lindum Colonia later shortened to Lincoln!
The city is a tourist centre and those who come do so to visit the numerous historic buildings including, of course, the Cathedral and the Castle and the specialist shops of Steep Hill and Bailgate.
Lincoln attracts many tourists in December when the Bailgate area of the city holds an annual Christmas Market in and around the Castle grounds. The market is based upon the traditional German style Weihnachtsmarkt as found in several German cities, including Lincoln's twin, Neustadt an der Weinstrasse.
